Notes for Sarah A. Marshall: Daily Gazette & Bulletin June 23,

SARAH A. PEPPERMAN. DIED JUNE 14TH, 1888, AGED SEVENTY ONE
YEARS, TEN MONTHS AND ONE DAY. Sarah A. Pepperman was born
August 13, 1816, and died June 14, 1888, aged 71 years, 10
months and 1 day. She was the wife of Isaac Pepperman,
residing near Salladasburg. On the morning of the 14th instant,
in company with her husband, she went to Williamsport to visit
her daughters; Mrs. Alfred and Sylvester Thomas, living on Erie
avenue. She was unwell when she left home, however. She reached
Williamsport in due time and visited with her daughters until
supper was ready, when she took her seat at the table with the
family; but while her husband was returning thanks she ceased
to live. She had heart disease and expected to die suddenly,
but death found her ready to depart this life in peace. She was
converted when about sixteen years of age, and had been a
faithful, consistent member of the M. E. Church ever since. Her
faith in God was child like in its simplicity. She seemed to
dwell in the secret places of he Most High and to abide under
the shadow of the Almighty. The funeral services were
conducted at her home, by the pastor of the Salladasburg
charge. The singing was done by the choir of the Salladasburg
M. E. Church. The Remains were buried in the beautiful cemetery
at Jersey Shore, there to await the resurrection of the just.
The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: T. J. Watts,
Frederick Friedel, J. B. Dandois, Jacob Maneval, George
Fenstemaker and S. B. Mallory. A large number of relatives and
a great many friends followed the remains to their last resting
place. An exemplary Christian, a good wife and an affectionate
mother has gone to her eternal reward. The husband and
children request me to return their sincere thanks to the
friends of the family for the kind assistance and sympathy
extended to them in this time of bereavement and sorrow. Alex
Lamberson, Pastor of Salladasburg M. E. Church.
