[185] Fred left a note saying see attached history.
[113]
At various times he claimed to have been born in 1803, 1804,
1807, 1815, or 1820. -Darrell Dewar, Spring 1989.
[114] From Ireland.
[115]
According to Roy Lewis (a grandson), Thomas and his son, John,
came to Minnesota from Lower Canada in the spring of 1868 and
homesteaded the two south 80 acres of Section 4, 105-30, Antrim
Township. (The East 80 was given for the town of Lewisville and
the West 80 was purchased by great-great grandson, Kennth Vern
Lewis in 1988 so that land is back in the Lewis family after
being owned by others for a number of years.) 'My grandfather,
Thomas Lewis and Uncle Thomas M. walked in from Janesville,' he
said, and three Wiederhoeft boys walked in with them. My
grandfather Lewis was a tailor, not much of a farmer.'
[188] They met in Canada.
